About Summer

Education:
I graduated from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Aug 2022. I obtained a 4.0 GPA and was an active member of student leadership, Co-President of my cohort. I simultaneously was assigned various settings for internships and externships, including a University clinic, Reading centers, Pediatric private practice, In-home Pediatric services, Elementary School, and SNF/LTC facility.

Employment:
I am currently employed at a Long Term Care and Skilled Nursing Rehabilitation Facility. I was recruited before graduation and was offered a full time position. I am involved in weekly collarboaration as a SLP representative for "Nutritionally At Risk" meetings.

About the lesson

Hi Everyone! My name is Summer and I am a Medical SLP-CFY. I graduated in August 2022 from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions and am currently employed at a Skilled Nursing and LTC Facility. Cognition is my primary focus with dysphagia coming in at a close second. I am truly passionate about taking a holistic patient care approach and finding what is functional for my patients. I can walk you through not just topics of speech-language pathology, but also how it carries out in the medical world. Documentation, interdisciplinary collaboration, productivity assistance, treatment ideas, and approaches, wording do's and don'ts, impacts of medical conditions, and difficult conversations with families and staff are just a few of the topics I would be more than happy to cover with you. My lessons are for those interested in the medical side of speech-language pathology, whether you are brand new or need a fresh take. I am very patient and willing to walk you through every challenge you encounter. I hope to help you feel more comfortable with the knowledge you possess and expand in the areas that interest you. My main goal at the end of the day is to help you thrive in this field and continue to make the world a better place!

Great lesson! Was open to learning and determined to grasp hard concepts. She had to work through some tech difficulties, and was quick to adapt. Very friendly and a great student to work with!
