About Maria

I have always found genuine enjoyment in helping others understand complex ideas, whether that’s supporting GCSE students or delivering lectures to medical students. Seeing someone go from confusion to confidence is incredibly rewarding.
I want to teach because I believe education should be engaging, empowering, and enjoyable. Too often, students feel overwhelmed or disconnected from their subjects. My goal is to change that and to help students not only improve their grades, but also develop a real interest and confidence in what they are learning. When that happens, success follows naturally. I also want to create a strong foundation for learning so that students can get to a stage where they have found their study flow and passion and can keep that for the rest of their lives.

About the lesson

I offer personalised, online lessons typically lasting 60–90 minutes, depending on the student’s needs and level. I am flexible and happy to adjust lesson length and frequency to best support progress and maintain engagement.

My approach is student-centred and adaptable. I recognise that every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style to suit individual preferences, whether that’s visual learning (diagrams, mind maps), auditory discussion, or kinaesthetic/problem-based practice.
Above all, I aim to ignite genuine interest and enjoyment in the subject. From experience, I’ve found that when a student begins to enjoy what they are learning, confidence grows and strong results follow naturally. I focus on:
- Building deep understanding rather than rote memorisation
- Breaking down complex concepts into simple, intuitive ideas
- Encouraging active recall, exam technique, and critical thinking
- Creating a supportive and motivating learning environment

Qualifications
- Medicine student in London, currently completing an additional Master’s in Endocrinology (on track for a First)
- A Levels: 4 A*s in Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Latin
- GCSEs: 12x Grade 9s

Languages:
- Portuguese (native speaker)
- Spanish (fluent)

I also have extensive teaching experience, having worked with students from GCSE level up to medical school. For the past two years, I have been invited to deliver lectures to fourth-year medical students at Campus Biomedico University in Rome reflecting both my subject knowledge and teaching ability.

I teach a wide range of students, mainly:
- GCSE and A-Level students (Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Latin, Spanish)
- Language learners of all levels (Spanish and Portuguese)
- University medical students, particularly in biomedical and medical sciences.
