About Sophie
I am a second year medical student at Bristol university and have been tutoring part time for four years. I have helped five students over this time to gain confidence during their GCSE year and pass with flying colours! For example, one student of mine improved from a C average to an A* in his English Literature GCSE. Another improved from a B average to achieving A* in their Biology GCSE!
I have also worked as a volunteer for summer camp for three years and mentored the kids I was working with to blossom and become more confident. I have learnt to transfer these skills to tutoring.

I like to structure my tutorials around a students personal needs. Generally a session will involve developing an understanding of the topic, often through the use of diagrams, starter exercises and mind maps. The next step is then working through a past paper together, weaving in good exam technique and recapping/consolidating any knowledge needed along the way. I think it's important to work together with my student, rather than having me lecture them for an hour.
