About Anannya

Hi, I’m Anannya, an English tutor currently studying first-year Medicine in Ireland. I graduated last year, so I understand exactly what students need right now to do well in exams. Alongside tutoring, I have experience teaching both swimming and dance, which has helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to work with different types of learners. I’ve also worked with students one-on-one in English, helping them improve their essay writing, structure, and analysis. Through this, I’ve seen how small changes in approach can make a big difference in grades, especially when students start to understand what examiners are really looking for. I also make sure students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace, while still pushing them to reach their full potential. Overall, my aim is to make English feel more manageable and give you the confidence to write strong, high-scoring answers.

My Approach as an English Tutor:
I help students improve their writing to be clear, well-structured, and designed for high marks. While English often feels subjective, examiners actually look for specific techniques, and I teach those directly. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. Everyone has a unique writing style and particular areas they find challenging, so I adjust my approach to suit what works best for you.

How I Teach:
I start by focusing on structure. We'll build strong essays, craft clear arguments, and write effective conclusions. I break down exactly what examiners expect, showing you how to meet those standards. In lessons, we'll build essays step-by-step, work on vocabulary and clarity, and practice analysis. To make sure you're following along and making progress, I also use short quizzes and writing tasks. Feedback is a big part of how I teach. You'll always know what you're doing well and exactly what to focus on improving.

What a Lesson Looks Like:

While lessons are structured, they're always flexible and adapt to your needs. We usually begin with a quick recap or a short task to review previous work. Next, we'll focus on a specific skill, perhaps essay structure, analysis, or improving your expression. Then we move into guided practice together, followed by independent writing where you can apply what you've learned. I also include exam-style questions to build confidence. At the end, I provide clear feedback and set small, practical goals for improvement. I can also provide extra practice between lessons if needed.

My Approach:
My main goal is to help students earn top grades, not just improve generally. I explain concepts clearly, always linking them to how they'll apply in exams. Lessons are fully personalized, and I give direct, useful feedback for quick progress. I also aim to make English feel structured and manageable, rather than confusing.

I work with middle school and high school students. My lessons are especially helpful for students who want to improve their essay writing, struggle with analysis, or are aiming for top grades.
