About Arjun

Hi! I’m Arjun, a first year medical student at Oxford, offering medical school application prep, including help with the BMAT, personal statement, and interview process.

Having just been through the medical school application process myself, I really understand the challenges and pressures placed upon prospective applicants. While each step in the application process comes with its own unique difficulties, these can be addressed for each individual student based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Within my own medical school application, I received 4 offers from Oxford, UCL, King's College and Bristol, providing very up to date insight into the relevant application processes.

Over the last 3 years, I’ve spent time tutoring and mentoring students in various roles both in school and with charities, particularly those that reached out to fill in gaps in teaching that schools struggled to meet over lockdown.

Areas of focus
Entrance exams (BMAT):
Medical entrance exams can be daunting, particularly given the stakes involved, but a simple strategy based on identifying weaknesses, building understanding, and testing yourself can produce excellent results. Such techniques helped me achieve an 8.4, 7.4, 4.5A (top 1%), results achievable with targeted and deliberate practice.

Interviews:
Interviews are what sets medical schools (and Oxbridge) apart from other courses and universities. While interviews can feel unpredictable, an understanding of some key medical concepts and practice in a mock setting can not only give you the tools to answer questions effectively, but put you at ease as you step into the (often virtual) interview room. Having experienced both MMI and panel interviews within my own application, I am well suited to give advice, both for virtual and in person interviews.

Personal statement:
The personal statement is a chance to sell yourself to your chosen universities within the 4000 character limit. Striking the delicate balance between being unique and hitting the clearly defined criteria that universities seek can be difficult. I can offer personal statement advice personalised to your chosen set of medical schools.

This is, of course, in addition to general advice about the medical application pathway, including medical school selection, oxbridge specific advice and interview prep, and a level selection. Each applicant has a unique set of strengths, weaknesses and circumstances. I hope to work with students to identify these, and work on a strategy that gets you into your dream medical school.
