About Katherine
I have 3 years of teaching experience and hold a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics. Throughout my teaching career, I have enjoyed helping students overcome mathematical uncertainty by creating supportive learning environments where questions are encouraged and progress is celebrated. My goal is to help every learner discover confidence through logical thinking and consistent practice.
One learner initially struggled with solving problems involving direct and inverse variation because recognizing changing relationships between variables often caused confusion. Through practical demonstrations, visual representations, and carefully sequenced exercises, the student gradually developed stronger reasoning skills and demonstrated excellent improvement in classroom performance and examinations.
I believe algebra develops logical reasoning, accuracy, perseverance, and confidence that benefit students in academics and future careers. Outside teaching, I enjoy creating digital mathematics activities, exploring innovative educational software, and contributing to collaborative mathematics teaching communities.

My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that algebra becomes meaningful when students understand the reasoning behind every concept instead of simply applying formulas. Before beginning instruction, I evaluate each student's mathematical foundation, confidence, learning preferences, study routines, and academic goals. Based on this assessment, I create customized lesson plans that reinforce essential algebraic principles while gradually introducing increasingly challenging topics through structured and engaging instruction.
Students receive comprehensive instruction in algebraic expressions, linear equations, inequalities, graphing, functions, polynomial operations, quadratic equations, factorization, rational expressions, radicals, exponential functions, logarithmic concepts, systems of equations, sequences, coordinate geometry, and mathematical modeling. Lessons combine conceptual discussions, visual demonstrations, collaborative activities, guided practice, independent problem-solving, technology-assisted learning, and reflective review sessions. Students are encouraged to justify their reasoning, compare alternative solution methods, and identify patterns that strengthen analytical thinking and conceptual understanding.
Real-world examples from aerospace engineering, entrepreneurship, transportation planning, data science, environmental management, healthcare operations, digital security, and construction projects demonstrate how algebra is applied across diverse industries. Students complete personalized assignments, regular knowledge checks, cumulative revision activities, and detailed progress reviews that support continuous improvement and long-term retention.
