About Anupama
As a young girl, I used to watch a lot of television! But I never just sat in one place and watched it. And I was very particular that whatever I watched needed to have a musical element - so that I keep dancing, dancing, dancing!
With a diverse background in classical dance forms and passion for psychology and anthropology, I create a unique and holistic framework for my dance classes that not only focuses on the technical aspects of dance but also delves into the cultural and psycho-social dimensions. :)

Class Structure:
1. Warm-up and Body Awareness:
Begin each class with a physical warm-up to prepare the body for dance.
Incorporate body awareness exercises to connect with the body's sensations and emotions.
2. Technical Training:
Depending on the form that the student wants to learn, I will commence training by introducing them to beginner levels of adavus (steps)
Focus on fundamental techniques, postures, gestures, and footwork.
Pay special attention to the unique characteristics of each style.
Over time I would also provide insights on-
Cultural Context:
Discuss the history and cultural significance of the dance form being studied.
Explore the stories, themes, and mythologies behind the dance, providing a cultural context.
Creative Expression:
I will allow for improvisation and self-expression, incorporating elements of contemporary dance.
Discuss how movement can convey emotions and tell a story.
Work on performance skills, including stage presence and storytelling.
Encourage students to choreograph their own pieces, incorporating what they've learned.
