About Shravani
I'm Shravani, an MSc Biotechnology student at Queen Mary University of London with a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Science.
Biology has been at the centre of everything I've done. I've worked in research labs in both university and industry settings, including an oncology research internship and my current MSc project studying how cells respond to DNA damage. This means I don't just know the GCSE content, I've used it in real experiments, and I love showing students how topics like cells, DNA and the immune system connect to science happening right now.
Since 2022 I've worked as an Activity Leader delivering hands-on STEM sessions to groups of young people with a wide range of abilities. It's where I found out how much I enjoy teaching, especially that moment when a student who was stuck suddenly gets it. It has also taught me to stay patient, read when someone is losing confidence, and change my explanation until it works for them.
I want to tutor because good support can completely change how a student feels about a subject. My goal is for every student to leave our lessons understanding Biology, feeling confident in their exams, and maybe even enjoying it.

Biology at GCSE covers a lot of content, and it's easy to feel lost when topics start piling up. My lessons are designed to change that, with a clear, structured approach that builds understanding and confidence.
Who the lessons are for:
Students in Years 9 to 11 studying GCSE Biology or Combined Science, whether you're catching up on a topic you've struggled with, preparing for mocks and final exams, or aiming for high grades. I'll work from your exam board's specification so we cover exactly what you'll be tested on.
How I teach:
Every student starts with a short first session where we look at what you find difficult, what's coming up, and how you learn best. From there, each lesson follows a clear structure:
A quick recap of the last lesson to lock in what you've learned
A focused explanation of the new topic, broken into small, manageable steps, using diagrams on a shared online whiteboard
Practice with past paper questions so you learn how to phrase answers the way examiners want
A short summary and a few questions to try before we next meet
If something isn't clicking, I'll explain it a different way until it does. I also give plenty of time to exam technique, including six-mark questions, data and graph analysis, and required practicals, since these are where many students lose easy marks.
Lesson length:
Lessons are 60 minutes, which gives enough time to learn something new and practise it properly without losing focus.
