About Mara
I am a Chemistry tutor with over four years of experience and a BSc in Chemistry, passionate about making even the most complex topics understandable. My focus is on quantum chemistry, a subject that often feels abstract, but I strive to make it engaging and approachable for every student. I guide learners through concepts like atomic and molecular orbitals, bonding theories, and spectroscopic transitions with clarity and patience. To simplify challenging ideas, I use illustrative models that visualise invisible processes, along with theoretical derivations to show the “why” behind the formulae. This balance helps students connect the maths to the meaning, making the subject less intimidating and more logical. I’ve worked with chemistry majors and physical science students, tailoring lessons to their academic goals and learning styles. My sessions emphasise understanding over memorisation, encouraging curiosity and deeper exploration. I break down the principles behind orbitals and bonding step by step, ensuring students gain both confidence and competence. I also bring in related subjects like environmental chemistry and aspects of marine chemistry to show how these concepts apply to the real world. This not only sparks curiosity but also helps students think beyond exams and assignments. Because I provide consistent feedback, students know where they stand and how to improve. I create an open space for questions, encouraging them to discuss, explore, and test their understanding. Whether they’re struggling with reaction mechanisms or mastering isomerism, I make sure they feel supported every step of the way. I’m passionate about helping learners build a strong foundation for organic synthesis while also appreciating the beauty of carbon compounds in everyday life.
