About Lacey
I am a Chemistry tutor with over 4 years of experience and an MSc in Analytical Chemistry. My passion lies in the chemistry of natural products and biomolecules. I explore secondary metabolites, natural dyes, flavours, and biologically active compounds found in nature. I guide students in understanding the extraction and isolation of these molecules from living organisms. Structural elucidation techniques form a key part of my teaching, helping learners see how chemistry reveals nature’s secrets. I combine theory with practical examples to make complex concepts accessible and engaging. My approach encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and hands-on problem solving. Students gain confidence in analysing, interpreting, and connecting chemical data. I also focus on the broader applications of natural product chemistry in medicine, food, and industry. Together, we uncover the fascinating chemistry hidden in the natural world. Every session aims to inspire students to explore and appreciate nature’s chemical wonders. Learning chemistry becomes both rewarding and deeply engaging.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students build a deep understanding of Chemistry and its core principles. I emphasise physical chemistry, quantum mechanics, chemical thermodynamics, and statistical mechanics. Lessons are gentle and reflective, highlighting the mathematical foundations behind chemical phenomena. I guide students to approach complex theories step by step, making abstract ideas clear and manageable. Practical examples and thought experiments help connect theory to reality. I encourage learners to explore concepts critically while developing their own understanding. Targeted problem-solving exercises strengthen analytical skills and build confidence. I also highlight common misconceptions and strategies to overcome them. Students are supported in thinking independently and expressing their ideas clearly. Through this approach, learners discover a new way to explore chemistry at its core. Each session aims to make learning engaging, reflective, and meaningful. By the end, students feel prepared, confident, and inspired to tackle challenging concepts with ease.
