About Cyrus
I am an award-winning writer, English Literature graduate, and experienced educator. I hold a degree in English Literature from the University of Manchester and have also studied at the University of Illinois and the University of Oxford. I am now completing an MA in Poetry from Queen’s University Belfast. I also hold a certificate in Online Teaching from Future Learn. I am currently the Editor-in-Chief at Europinion where I lead workshops and train writers and editors. I can train you to be a better writer both for examinations and work. Additionally, my work as a Journalist and Essayist has seen publication in outlets like the Cherwell Newspaper and the Poetry Society. As a Published Writer, my works have been recognised and awarded internationally. I am a winner of Foyle's Young Poet of the Year and have been longlisted for the National Poetry Prize. I have been featured in numerous publications. If you are interested in Creative Writing, I am happy to be your first port of call for any advice you may need. Finally, I’ve worked as a Copywriter and Copyeditor for many international brands. These experiences allow me to show you the practical, work-based skills that English Literature provides.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Methodology: As an English Literature Graduate from the University of Manchester and an award-winning, internationally-published writer, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my tutoring sessions. My approach is student-centred, aiming to foster a deep understanding and appreciation of literature and the English language. Techniques and Teaching Methodology: Interactive Learning: I engage students in discussions, encouraging them to express their thoughts and interpretations of texts. This helps develop critical thinking and analytical skills. Tailored Lessons: Each lesson is customised to the student’s needs, focusing on areas where they need the most improvement, whether it's understanding themes, analysing characters, improving writing skills, or anything else. Practical Application: I use real-world examples and writing exercises to help students apply literary concepts and techniques. This hands-on approach makes learning more relevant and engaging. Feedback and Improvement: Regular feedback is provided to help students understand their strengths and areas for improvement. This iterative process ensures continuous progress. Typical Length of a Lesson: Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes, but this can be adjusted based on the student’s needs and concentration. Qualifications: I hold a degree in English Literature from the University of Manchester and I am an internationally published, award-winning writer. I am also a published researcher, who writes about teaching English to young people. Additionally, I have the qualification How to Teach Online from Future Learn. Who Are My Lessons For: Levels: My lessons are suitable for students at all levels, from secondary school to university. Ages: I tutor students aged 13 and up, adapting my teaching style to suit the age and comprehension level of each individual. Goals: Whether you’re looking to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or simply deepen your understanding and enjoyment of literature, my lessons are designed to meet your specific goals.
