About Cathleen

I am a veteran teacher. I've taught all elementary grades as well as adults. With years of experience with various students, I have had success teaching those learning English as another language, students with learning difficulties and those who are gifted learners.

About the lesson

My lessons are engaging and fun for students. I take the time to get to know the students, evaluating their strengths and weaknesses with proven methods to improve their grade level performance. Through repetition and consistency, I have have assisted students to graduate with honors, improve their state testing scores and perform on grade level or above. I love working with elementary students and adults alike.
A typical lesson begins with reviewing familiar material allowing the student to showcase their knowledge, Students that take on the cognitive load of learning are eager to participate. Next, I lead the student to more challenging material. Lastly, through games and play, I allow the student to practice the newly acquired material. It is enjoyable to allow newer students to suggest games that they love. Through this engagement, students progress beyond their personal perception.
