About Sebastian

I am a journalist and communicator from Medellín, Colombia. I moved to the United States six years ago looking to improve my English. I studied in Boston, MA and obtained my bilingual certificate. During this time I was an au pair and had the opportunity to teach my language and culture to my three wonderful host children.

After that, I pursued a career in translation and interpretation and moved to central Massachusetts to serve a large Hispanic community. What surprised me was the large Brazilian population in this area, so I decided to learn Portuguese as well. Two years later I obtained my Portuguese language certificate.

Since then I have worked as an interpreter and private Spanish and Portuguese teacher. Spanish being my greatest passion, not only because of the opportunity to teach the language but because I can show and teach my culture and customs. I'm currently studying French and soon I would like to start Italian classes.

About the lesson

I love teaching Spanish because it is not only a new word or a new language what a student can learn, but it is also the opportunity to open up a new world of unimaginable things. Many students take Spanish or any other language as a requirement for school (I did it too) and sometimes it is not really exciting, believe I know.

I want to help my students to enjoy and have fun during this process, because the reward of bilingualism is worth it. When you can communicate in a different language, you discover new cultures, customs, you expanded your mind and perspective about the world.

Having that second or third language like I do will provide you with opportunities that you would never think about!
