About Eli
I am a dedicated music educator with a degree in Music and over 10 years of performance experience, both in the US and internationally. My journey in music has taken me across various genres, including world music, neo-soul, jazz, and classical. This extensive background has provided me with a deep understanding of diverse musical styles and techniques, which I am passionate about sharing with my students.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of performing in a wide range of settings, from intimate venues to large-scale international stages. These experiences have enriched my teaching approach, allowing me to draw on a broad spectrum of musical influences and performance practices. Whether working with beginners or advanced musicians, I strive to make lessons engaging and relevant to each student’s interests and goals.
In my teaching, I focus on blending technical skill development with creative exploration. I believe that a strong technical foundation is essential, but I also emphasize the importance of artistic expression and personal style. With a background that includes 10 years of formal and informal performance experience both in the US and overseas, I bring a wealth of knowledge across multiple genres, including world music, neo-soul, jazz, and classical. Each lesson is designed to provide a well-rounded education that incorporates technique, theory, and artistic expression.
For beginners, we start with foundational elements such as basic music theory, rhythm, and simple pieces that build confidence and technical skill. As students progress, lessons become more advanced, focusing on complex pieces, improvisation, and genre-specific techniques. Whether you’re interested in mastering classical compositions, exploring the nuances of jazz improvisation, or delving into the rhythms of world music, the curriculum is tailored to align with your musical goals and interests.
In addition to individual technique, we emphasize the importance of contextual understanding. Lessons include exploring the historical and cultural backgrounds of various genres, which enriches the learning experience and deepens students' appreciation for the music they play. This approach not only enhances technical skills but also fosters a more profound connection to the music.
