About Charles
I am Grade 8 standard on the Cornet and have been playing instruments for 10 years. I play instruments in multiple semi-professional bands. I have been teaching brass instruments (including Trumpet, Cornet, Flugelhorn, Tenor Horn, Trombone, Euphonium and Tuba) and drums to various ages (ranging from 6 to 45) for two years. I have taught 17 students in practical music. My A levels include Music (A*), History (A), and Maths (A).

Generally, my method of practical music teaching consists of working on specific pieces together. Each piece will be slightly more technically demanding than the last so that students can improve and develop as players. The pieces I select vary in style so that students can become diverse in their playing ability (for example, being able to play Classical, Jazz, Funk, and other genres), which is something I particularly encourage. I also focus on technique, especially in the first lesson, in which I identify what areas specifically require development. I teach an appropriate amount of music theory at relevant stages, which I find really helps practical performance.

Charles is a great teacher. I have helped him out with a youth band that he leads. He has great rapport with the students and always makes the subject relevant to them.
