About Online

My name is Cheryl, and I am a Licensed Professional Teacher. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, but instead of pursuing a career as a chemist, I chose to follow my passion for teaching.

I started my teaching career in language schools and academies, where I taught English and Filipino. Eventually, I decided to work independently and build my own freelance teaching career. I have been a freelance language tutor since 2011, managing every aspect of my work—from finding and communicating with students to preparing lessons and conducting classes.

I have always loved learning languages, and I enjoy sharing that passion with others through teaching. For me, teaching languages is not just a profession but something I genuinely enjoy doing.

About the lesson

For Tagalog, I create my own materials and lessons based on the student’s learning needs. I present each lesson and explain the relevant sentence structure and grammar, followed by examples for the student to read and practice.

Each lesson is then reinforced through various activities, such as answering questions related to the topic, constructing sentences, and engaging in actual speaking practice. This allows the student to apply what they have learned in realistic conversations and gradually develop their confidence and ability to communicate in Tagalog.

For English, I have a variety of materials that I use depending on the student’s level and learning goals. If a student needs to improve their grammar, the lessons focus primarily on grammar concepts and exercises. For students who want to improve their spoken English, lessons focus more on speaking practice through activities such as picture description, question-and-answer exercises, and mock interviews.

I adjust the lessons according to each student’s needs and provide opportunities for them to apply what they have learned in practical, real-life communication.
