  Growing up in an Armenian-speaking household provided me with a strong foundation in the language from an early age. However, it was the guidance and passion of dedicated teachers that truly sparked my love for the language and motivated me to deepen my understanding and fluency.

• Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  One emblematic representative of the Armenian language and culture is Mesrop Mashtots, a historical figure revered for his pivotal role in inventing the Armenian alphabet in the early 5th century.

• Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behaviour in the language that you particularly like?

  In Armenian culture, it is customary to warmly welcome guests into one's home and offer them food, drinks, and conversation without expecting anything in return. This tradition emphasizes the importance of community, friendship, and sharing in Armenian society.

• Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  Speaking the Armenian language is not just a skill or a means of communication; it is a source of identity, community, cultural heritage, and resilience that holds deep personal significance for me.

• What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  By staying committed to your language learning journey, you can overcome the challenges of learning Armenian and make significant strides towards fluency and proficiency.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  During my first-grade year, we delved into the biography of Mesrop Mashtots, the creator of the Armenian alphabet. One day, during our class session, it was my turn to recount his life story. I began my narration with the words "Մեսրոպ Մաշտոցը մեր առաջին ուսուցչուհին է" (Mesrop Mashtotse mer arajin usuts'chuhi e), which translates to "Mesrop Mashtots is our first teacher." However, I inadvertently said "ուսուցչուհի" (usuts'chuhi), meaning "female teacher," instead of simply "ուսուցչ" (usuts'ch), meaning "teacher." This innocent slip of words caused the entire class to burst into laughter.

• How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

  During my travels, I've had the chance to engage in conversations with native speakers, navigate daily interactions such as ordering food or asking for directions, and participate in cultural activities where Armenian language and traditions are central.
