About Rishita

I am an Indian, a native Bengali speaker from West Bengal, and I hold a degree in Bengali literature. I studied in the Bangla medium under the West Bengal Board, so I learned the language formally from childhood — grammar, composition, and literature — not only by speaking it at home.

For the past ten years, I have taught Bangla to students of all ages and levels: complete beginners meeting the script for the first time, heritage learners who understand Bangla at home but cannot read or write it, and advanced students working through Bengali poetry and prose. I am also comfortable supporting school students following the West Bengal Board syllabus.

My literature background shapes how I teach. I can explain not only what to say, but why it is said that way: why one word carries respect and another sounds blunt, how conjunct letters fit together in the script, how a sentence changes when a single ending moves. These are the things that are difficult to pick up from an app.

Outside of teaching, I read Bengali poetry and fiction, and I often bring a song, a poem, or a piece of everyday speech into a lesson when it suits the student.

I am patient, well-prepared, and reliable. I plan every lesson in advance, send notes afterward, and keep a record of what each student has covered. Above all, I want my students to feel comfortable making mistakes, because that is where real learning begins.

About the lesson

Bangla is my mother tongue, and it is also what I studied — I have a degree in Bengali literature and ten years of teaching experience. So I can teach you the language the way it is really spoken, and explain why it works that way.

How I teach

We begin with your reason for learning. Family, travel, exams, or love of the language — everything is built around your answer.

You speak Bangla from the very first lesson. I keep the grammar simple and explain a rule only when you need it. The script we build slowly, letter by letter, until words start to appear where shapes used to be.

I speak Bangla as much as you can follow, and switch to English whenever something needs explaining. After every lesson, I send notes, and homework if you want it.
Who I teach

Children and adults. Complete beginners who have never seen a Bengali letter. People who grew up hearing Bangla at home but never learned to read or write it. Travelers, professionals, and students who want to read Bengali poetry in the original.

One promise

I will never rush you, and I will never make you feel small for forgetting a word. Forgetting is part of learning a language. Mistakes are where the learning happens.

In ten years of teaching, there is one moment I still wait for — the first time a student calls a relative and speaks only Bangla, all the way through. That moment is why I teach.
