About Summer
Hi, I’m Summer. I was born in China and have been living in Sydney for over a decade. I’m fluent in both Mandarin and English.
I’m a happy and open-minded person. I like trying new things and getting to know different cultures. I’m really into food and nutrition, fitness, travelling, psychology, and self-improvement. I love exploring new places, trying different cuisines, and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.
Teaching is something I genuinely enjoy. I’m patient, supportive, and like to keep lessons fun and creative. I’ve been trained to teach Mandarin and have worked with students at all different levels. Since I’ve learned another language myself, I understand it can be exciting but also a bit overwhelming. Feeling nervous at the beginning is totally normal — that’s why I’m here, to help you build confidence and reach your language goals.
I focus on creating a relaxed and friendly space where you can learn comfortably and make steady progress. I’m confident I can help you feel ready and comfortable speaking a new language!

Before we start our journey, I like to first get to know your current Mandarin level, just through a casual chat and seeing what you’re comfortable with.
My lessons are dynamic, effective, and efficient, and I do my best to keep them fun and interesting too.
Here are some areas I can support you with:
• Daily conversations
• Building vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation
• Listening and memory skills
• Reviewing writing and correcting grammar
• Any topics you’re personally interested in
• Chinese culture (if you’re keen!)
My lessons are centred around your goals and what you want to focus on. Every class is tailored to your needs. If there’s anything specific you’d like to work on, we can absolutely do that!
**Please note - there‘s a small +$15 for F2F lessons, simply to support the extra time and setup needed for in-person sessions : )

Perfect! Summer is very organised, enthusiastic and friendly! I thoroughly enjoyed my session with her. She is a great teacher - her passion towards Chinese culture, language and helping others achieve their personal goal is admirable. Excellent! Summer was prompt with communication, friendly and had prepared a PowerPoint presentation for the first free lesson and had come up with an agreed upon lesson plan afterwards. Even though I am not continuing with Chinese lessons now for personal reasons, I recommend Summer!
