About Andy
I’m Andy, a native Catalan and Spanish speaker from Barcelona with native-level English and a background in language, writing, editing and communication.
I grew up using both Catalan and Spanish, so I understand not only the grammar and vocabulary of Catalan, but also how it is actually used in daily life in Catalonia. This is especially useful for students who want to learn Catalan in a practical, natural way rather than only studying from a textbook.
My academic and professional background is in the arts, business, written language, proofreading and content editing. I’m comfortable explaining language clearly, correcting mistakes carefully, and adapting my explanations depending on the student’s level and confidence.
I’m professional, patient and detail-oriented, but I also try to make lessons relaxed and approachable. My goal is to help students feel less intimidated by Catalan and more confident using it in real situations, whether they are complete beginners, living in Barcelona, moving to Catalonia, or learning for personal, cultural or professional reasons.

I teach practical, beginner-friendly Catalan for adults who want to feel more confident speaking, understanding and using the language in real life.
My lessons are focused on communication first. We work on useful vocabulary, pronunciation, basic grammar, listening comprehension and everyday conversation, but always in a way that feels natural and usable rather than purely textbook-based. I also include cultural context from Catalonia, especially for students who are moving to Barcelona, living in Catalonia, or trying to connect more deeply with Catalan-speaking people and places.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes. In each class, I usually combine conversation practice, clear explanations, guided exercises and correction. I adapt the structure depending on the student: some people want survival Catalan for daily life, some want confidence speaking, and others want help understanding grammar, pronunciation or written Catalan.
I am a native Catalan and Spanish speaker from Barcelona, with native-level English, so I can explain Catalan clearly to English-speaking students while also helping them understand the differences between Catalan and Spanish. I also work with language support, translation, proofreading and written communication, which helps me explain grammar and wording in a precise but accessible way.
My classes are best suited for beginners, lower-intermediate learners, expats, adults moving to Catalonia, partners or friends of Catalan speakers, and anyone who wants to learn Catalan online in a relaxed but structured way.
