About Tom
I am a highly organised and reliable individual, who has just completed an MSc in Modern Building Design at the University of Bath, with a strong academic background and excellent communication skills. Alongside my studies and professional experience in architecture and sustainability consultancy, I have developed a patient, supportive, and methodical approach to helping others learn. I take pride in being approachable, well-prepared, and adaptable, ensuring each student feels comfortable and motivated. I am a native Czech speaker currently based in Bath, and my experience working with a wide range of people, combined with my fluency in multiple languages, allows me to explain concepts clearly and sensitively. I am passionate about sharing the Czech language and culture and aim to create a positive, encouraging learning environment where students can build confidence and make steady progress.

My teaching approach focuses on building strong foundations in Czech conversation, with emphasis on speaking and listening in practical conversation and real-life situations. I use a mix of guided conversation, grammar explanations, exercises, and authentic materials to make lessons engaging and effective. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, though shorter or longer sessions can be arranged if needed. As a native Czech speaker with over 23 years of experience, my lessons are suitable for children, teenagers, and adults at beginner and intermediate levels, whether you are learning for travel, work, relocation, or personal interest.
