About Amaya

Native English speaker (US) with over a decade of tutoring experience, including formal classroom teaching of children aged 4–6 in Madrid. I have an inclusive teaching approach, adapted to the learning style and personality each student has. I hold a Cambridge C2 (CAE) certificate in English and am also a native Spanish speaker, with working French (B1–B2) - useful when a young learner needs a quick word of reassurance in their own language. Lessons are calm, structured and adapted to each child's age, level and interests. The first lesson is free so you can meet me, ask questions, and decide if it's the right fit for your child.

About the lesson

MY APPROACH: I teach English the way children actually learn a language: through doing, not through drilling. Lessons are structured but playful, and I adapt the balance of speaking, reading, writing and games to each student's age and energy on the day. With younger learners (4–10), I lean on stories, drawing, songs, role-play and hands-on activities, drawing on my background designing creative STEAM courses for children in Madrid. With older children and teenagers, lessons combine reading, writing practice, conversation, vocabulary work, and homework or schoolwork support when useful.
A TYPICAL LESSON: I usually open with a short, low-pressure warm-up in English (a question, a game, a short reading) to get the student talking, then move into the main focus we agreed on (a text, a writing task, a grammar point, an oral exercise) and finish with something lighter so the lesson ends on confidence rather than fatigue. Each lesson builds on the last, and I keep notes so progress is visible to both the student and their parents.
WHAT SETS ME APART: I'm a native English speaker (US) with a Cambridge C2 certificate and over eight years of tutoring experience across ages 4 to adult. I'm also a native Spanish speaker and work in French at a B1-B2 level, so I can scaffold in any of the three languages when a young learner is genuinely lost, but lessons stay primarily in English so the ear and confidence develop naturally.
WHO THE LESSONS ARE FOR: Children and teenagers from age 4 upward, at any level beginners building first words, intermediate learners gaining fluency, or students preparing for school exams. Online or in person around Grenoble. The first lesson is free so we can meet and decide together if it's a good fit.
