About Taylah

My students are middle schoolers, high school students, college students and professionals who need to BOOST a GRADE, TRAVEL ABROAD or be COMPETITIVE in the WORKFORCE.

I have 5+ years of professional experience as an English, Spanish and Portuguese teacher covering reading, writing, speaking and listening for all levels of proficiency.

ENGLISH:
I'm TESOL-certified, and have taught English (ESOL) to Brazilian adults in Belo Horizonte, São Paulo and São João del- Rei Brazil. In Mexico, I've taught English (ESOL) to children. I have also volunteered as a tutor and interpreter for the Latino community in Georgia. I have taught literacy classes to preliterate non-native English learners through Friends of Refugees. At Georgia State University, I worked as an event coordinator for English-learning students from Nicaragua and Brazil as well as a professor of academic reading and Listening in the Intensive English Program at Georgia State University.

SPANISH and PORTUGUESE:
At the age of 10, I began teaching myself Spanish, then in High School, I taught myself Portuguese. Since then, I’ve lived in Brazil for 11 months, done many mission trips in Latin America (Guatemala and Brazil) and have done three internships for Brazilian universities and for the Brazilian government. I also have a Bachelors in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American/Caribbean Studies.

I am intimately involved linguistically and culturally with international education and want to share my knowledge with you, my students!

About the lesson

I design personalized curricula that will clarify even the most ambiguous concepts in the most memorable ways possible.

My lessons are divided into three parts:

1) Content- Students will be challenged to listen to or read content in their target language.
2) Analysis- Students will extract vocabulary, concepts and grammar from the content.
3) Task- Students will then have to produce the target language given the concepts from the content by completing a task, answering comprehension questions or writing an essay.

I have a dynamic and conversational teaching style that will optimize the immersion experience.
