About Ayana

Hi! Ayana here. I’m a native Japanese speaker originally from Nagoya, and I’ve been living in Australia for over 10 years.

I’ve lived and worked in Australia and Europe apart from my country, and I’ve always enjoyed meeting people from different cultures and communicating across languages. I speak Japanese, English, and Spanish, so I’m happy to use whichever language helps you feel most comfortable during the lesson.

I enjoy sharing not only the Japanese language, but also the culture and the little differences that make Japanese communication interesting. Having learned other languages myself, I know how challenging it can be! But I also know how exciting it is when a new language opens up a whole new world of possibilities.

For me, language and culture are closely connected. When you learn another language, you may even notice that the way you express yourself, your gestures, and your body language can change too. That’s one of the things I find fascinating about languages.

I’m friendly and patient, and I understand that everyone learns differently. I’m mainly available on weekends and weekday evenings, and I look forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

My lessons are all about what you want to achieve. I design each lesson around your goals, level and interests, as well as the materials you would like to use. Whether you want to improve your conversation, pronunciation, reading or writing, we can focus on what is most useful and enjoyable for you.

I have also supported beginners preparing for a Japanese speaking competition, helping with conversation practice, pronunciation and building confidence in speaking.

There is no fixed lesson plan. We can decide together what you would like to work on and adapt each lesson as you progress. I’m happy to work with complete beginners as well as students who already know some Japanese.

Having lived and worked in Japan, Australia and Europe, I can also help you understand not only how to say something in Japanese, but how to express it naturally in the cultural context.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable speaking Japanese, making mistakes and asking questions. We’ll learn at your pace and keep the lessons practical, relaxed and enjoyable.
