About Saul

¡Hola! I’m excited to help you improve your Spanish (or Portuguese) skills! I’m a native Spanish speaker who has lived in Wisconsin for 16 years. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a minor in Communication, a Master’s degree in Spanish Literature and Linguistics, and recently obtained my K-12 World Language certification all from UW-Milwaukee. I began my teaching journey as a Spanish Teaching Assistant while completing my graduate studies (that's where I also took on Portuguese courses), and I am currently pursuing a second Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction.

Over the years, I’ve taught a wide range of learners, from elementary students to college-level classes. I worked as a Teaching Assistant in Madrid through UWM’s Study Abroad program, taught Spanish courses on campus for two years, and provided private tutoring for children and adults (including ages 9 and 11). I just started a new position at a local Middle and High School teaching Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 after teaching Spanish 2, AP Spanish Language, and AP Spanish Literature for 4 years at my previous position. I also offer one-on-one support through office hours and enjoy tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and interests.

My teaching style is student-centered, engaging, and flexible. I love incorporating technology and interactive activities, mixing traditional practice with virtual tools and gamified learning to make language acquisition fun and meaningful. Whether you’re just starting out, preparing for an AP exam, or looking to refine your conversational skills, I’m here to help you succeed. ¡Vamos a aprender juntos!

I had Saul as tutor for a few months as I was taking Spanish in college a few years back. Saul is a very patient and caring tutor. Even when I got frustrated about struggling with past tense conjugations, he would always stay positive and believed I was capable of learning them. He also makes sure to personalize his lessons to support the individual needs and interests of his students. His passion for teaching Spanish is very clear when he delivers his lessons.
