About Cyril

My name is Cyril Ochieng Odhiambo, and I am a multilingual professional from East Africa, currently based in Orlando, FL. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies (Community Development) from Pwani University in Kenya, and I have spent years working across a wide range of professional fields — from AI data training and technology to logistics management and community education.

What truly sets me apart as a Swahili tutor is that Kiswahili is my native language. I did not learn it from a textbook — I grew up speaking it daily in Kenya, alongside English, Luo, and Mijikenda. This gives me a deep, intuitive understanding of how the language flows in real conversation, including regional expressions, cultural nuances, and the natural rhythm of everyday speech that no classroom can fully replicate.

I have formal experience as a professional trainer through Hearts 4 Service, where I designed and delivered structured training programs for adult learners across multiple skill levels. I know how to meet students where they are, explain things clearly, and make learning feel engaging rather than overwhelming.

I am patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my students' progress. Habari! My name is Cyril, and Kiswahili is not just a language I speak — it is a language I live. Born and raised in East Africa, I grew up immersed in Swahili culture, speaking it every single day alongside English, Luo, and Mijikenda. For me, teaching Swahili is deeply personal, and that passion comes through in every lesson.

Whether you are a complete beginner who has never said a single word in Swahili, or an intermediate learner looking to sharpen your grammar, build vocabulary, and finally hold a real conversation with confidence — I am here for you. My lessons are practical, conversational, and rooted in real-life East African culture, so you are not just memorizing words; you are learning how people actually speak.

My background in professional training (I have trained adults in Microsoft Office and educational programs through Hearts 4 Service) means I know how to break down complex concepts into simple, digestible steps. I adapt my teaching style to match your pace and learning preferences — no two students are the same, and I genuinely enjoy finding the best way to help each person click with the language.

Here is what a typical lesson looks like: we start with a short review of what you already know, introduce new vocabulary or grammar in a real-world context, practice through conversation or roleplay, and finish with a fun cultural insight — because understanding Swahili culture makes the language come alive.
