About Eliot
I am a writer and lover of all things literature. My first book was published in June of 2023 and was nominated for the National Book Award. I love working with students on their own creative writing projects, on their course work and offering insights and inspiration on their own relationship to writing. I have taught Creative Writing at the University of Iowa and enjoy working with students whether they need support in their English coursework, if they are looking for guidance and inspiration for their latest novel or if they are curious to get into writing more often.

My pedagogy is both pragmatic and open. I am curious and attuned to the needs of my students, while creating structure and space to face challenges with a sense of lightness and motivation. My sessions last 60 min and I work with students on their class materials or work closely on their own creative projects. This can include selected readings, writing prompts and/or workshopping the students' work. I graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop where I taught undergraduates Creative Writing. My debut novel, PONYBOY, was nominated for the National Book Award this year.
