About Kira
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology with a focus on Piano History and have been teaching piano for 3 years. My lessons emphasize jazz piano improvisation, comping techniques, and developing a rich harmonic vocabulary. I believe in holistic development, combining jazz theory, ear training for complex chords, transcription exercises, and rhythmic precision. I have worked with students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels, as well as Professional and Expert jazz musicians. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals, whether exploring improvisation or refining performance technique. I encourage curiosity, creativity, and musical exploration in every session. Students practice connecting theory to real-world jazz applications. We focus on building both technical skill and expressive freedom at the keyboard. My approach nurtures confident, spontaneous musical expression. Lessons incorporate listening, transcription, and creative exercises. Students gain a deeper understanding of jazz harmony and phrasing. I aim to make learning challenging, rewarding, and fun. Together, we can unlock your potential as a jazz pianist. Hobbyist Adults and Pop Players receive guidance to improve confidence, accuracy, and expressive playing. We explore modern piano techniques, rhythmic patterns, and melodic ideas for popular music. Lessons include learning songs by ear, improvisation, and creative arrangements. I focus on connecting theory to real-world playing. Each session encourages exploration and active engagement. Mistakes are welcomed as part of the learning process. Students develop skills to play, improvise, and adapt songs independently. Lessons are designed to be practical, motivating, and inspiring. Together, we unlock the secrets of pop piano and bring favorite songs to life.
