My name is Eduardo de Abreu Moro, but you can call me Edu!
I am a musician and guitar teacher from Brazil. I’ve been playing the guitar for 16 years now, and teaching professionally for 4 years. My areas of focus are Jazz Guitar, Brazilian Jazz and Brazilian music genres like Samba, Bossa Nova, Choro and others.
I did my Bachelor’s in Music at Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, where I had the opportunity to study with Julio Herrlein, Dimitri Cervo, Luciana Prass and Celso Loureiro Chaves.
I moved to New York City to pursue my Master’s degree in Jazz Instrumental Performance at the New York University, where I studied with Adam Rogers, Peter Bernstein, Drew Gress, Rogerio Boccato and Alan Broadbent.

I believe teaching begins with getting to know the student well: what is your story with music, what attracted you to the instrument and what do you imagine yourself doing with it.
I always try to get the best understanding I can about what your goals are to plan what the subjects we’re gonna be working on (maybe you’re not sure of your goals! In that case, they become clearer the more we explore the possibilities and different paths)
I like to give assignments each class. Especially listening assignments – listening is the most important thing in music!
I believe in working on two, maximum 3 topics at a time, depending on your time, discipline and goals. Those could be: technique, repertoire, voicings, scale patterns, harmonic theory, accompaniment, ear training, reading, and many others depending on each student.
I like to balance fundamentals with playing. It’s always important to remind that the reason we study is so we can play songs we like and be musical over them.
I have experience teaching to diverse levels and ages.
