About Emily
I am a year 13 leaver this year and have achieved grades A*A*A*A* in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Mathematics. I achieved ten grade 9s at GCSE and am going to Oxford University to study Chemistry this October.
I achieved GCSEs in French, History, Physical Education, Geography, Maths, English Literature, English Language, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in 2022.
I received 5/5 university offers for an undergraduate Chemistry degree (MChem) for 2024 entry. These included Oxford, Imperial, Durham, UCL and Warwick which are among the best in the world. I am friendly and will use my recent experiences to give the most updated advice, from a young person to a young person.

Unfortunately physical sciences and mathematics teaching often skips over fundamental understanding and relies on memorisation. This is completely wrong, and I want to ensure every student understands the 'why?'. I explain concepts in multiple different ways and use the specification and markscheme as tools to learn. I share tools to memorise, understand and (my most importantly) hit the marking points of markschemes. This develops understanding of exam technique and true understanding of the content.
Every student’s learning style is personal so having a patient tutor is key. I am very approachable, hardworking and enthusiastic about science and maths in particular. I want to make learning enjoyable and boost your grade for the external exams. Having a young tutor like me will give better coverage of content since I will overlap with your teacher and notice things from sitting the same exam that they won’t. I hope to make the content interesting and relevant. I like to minimise the use of boring memorisation and instead rely on spotting patterns using true understanding. This approach is more interesting and more sustainable long-term.
