About Jawad

I am a undergraduate student currently studying for a BSc in Computer Science, having completed my A-Level's in Summer 2021. I tutor GCSE and A-Level Computer Science, with a main goal of easing any anxiety around Computer Science and to build a comfort with the syllabus which could potentially spark an interest.

Tutoring Experience:
Tutoring Computer Science for the last 3 years to a vast majority of GCSE and A-Level students has taught me that every student is different, and therefore I make sure I cater my teaching towards their needs.

I am passionate about education and feel I have the creativity, patience, experience and pedagogical knowledge to deliver a high-quality tutoring service. I have been following and teaching the syllabus' for a range of different awarding bodies, from OCR to AQA to even Edexcel.

GCSE/AS/A-Level Awarding Boards That I Can Teach:
- OCR Computer Science
- AQA Computer Science
- Edexcel Computer Science

Additionally, I can also teach and provide training on Microsoft Office 365 services (OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Python.

About the lesson

We will start with a discussion of what your aims are and where we should focus our attention. Different students have different objectives, preferences, needs and ability levels. For example, in the case of a Year 10 GCSE student, we might decide to follow along with work done at school, looking at topics again to provide greater detail and reinforcement. A Year 11 GCSE student, however, would probably do better using a different strategy such as targeting known weak areas and revision.

I try to make the time the student has with me as relaxed as possible; a friendly, informal atmosphere where they're able to ask me anything they need to. In my experience, once a student is suitably comfortable, he/she will find it easier to focus on the task at hand and retain more information.

What is also very important to me is outside the allotted tutoring hours, I will have an email address/phone number where I can be reached for questions on Computer Science in general or for work I have set. For some individuals, I am aware that it can be intimidating asking a teacher a question or for help and I would like to remove that apprehension.

I love Computer Science; I teach my students what they need to know for their exams, but I also try to show them the relevance of what they are learning and why it is interesting and useful. Some students simply want to pass their exams and move on down a different path. Some, however, discover a passion that had previously been hidden behind dusty classrooms, tests and homework.
