About Emily
I'm from South Florida, and teaching has always been a passion of mine. I've had the privilege of working with children of all ages, from newborns to high school seniors, but my true passion lies in working with primary learners. I enjoy helping children build strong literacy skills, and I bring patience, dedication, and a personalized approach to each session. My goal is to help every child feel confident and supported in their learning journey.

My Approach as a Tutor:
I believe that every child learns differently, so I tailor my lessons to meet each student’s individual needs. Whether your child is just starting to learn to read or needs extra help with reading comprehension, I focus on making lessons engaging and fun while providing clear, structured guidance. I work closely with students to build confidence and foster a love for reading and writing.
Teaching Methods and Techniques:
I use a combination of phonics-based methods, hands-on activities, and visual aids to make learning more interactive. For reading comprehension and writing, I break down complex concepts into manageable steps and provide plenty of practice opportunities to reinforce learning. I also incorporate games and creative activities to keep students engaged, especially younger learners.
A Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical lesson with me includes...
1. Warm-up: A short review of the previous lesson or a quick reading activity.
2. Core Focus: This could be a phonics exercise, writing practice, or reading comprehension exercise. I adjust this depending on the student’s needs.
3. Interactive Activity: This might include a game, drawing, or short writing exercise that reinforces the day’s focus.
4. Wrap-up: A recap of what was learned and an assignment or activity to do at home (if applicable).

What sets me apart is my ability to connect with young learners and make lessons feel approachable. I have several years of experience as a nanny, which helps me create a calm, positive, and encouraging learning environment. My passion for teaching and my personalized approach to each student help me keep them engaged and motivated, no matter their learning pace.
