About Rob

Hi, My name is Rob Lewis and I've just finished sixth form and am on my gap year before attending Birmingham Medical School in 2026. I am keen to provide a professional comfortable environment for students to ask all their questions. I hope in my lessons students can ask the questions they felt were too silly to ask in class and we can go over concepts many times if needed. My patience won’t wear thin and I will attempt to re-word and re-explain concepts until they make sense and stick. I can cater to students of any level from Us to A*s and 1s to 9s. As I will be a similar age to lots of my students, I look forward to forming professional friendships in a way that allows a student to feel comfortable making mistakes. I learnt it’s just as important to get it wrong as it is to get it right when practising and sometimes it is daunting to “give it a go” in school so people don’t get to make mistakes. My lessons would be a good place to develop and work through these mistakes.

About the lesson

I achieved A*s in Biology (OCR A), Chemistry (OCR A) and Maths (AQA) A-Levels. I achieved 6 grade 9s in my GCSEs through hard work, targeted revision and a few tips and tricks I'm now looking to pass on. In year 12 I supported in a year 11 chemistry class aiding the teacher, often explaining key concepts 1-1 when someone was struggling and the teacher didn't have time to revisit the core principles. I enjoyed the process of teaching and am keen to pass on my knowledge from my time at school. I realised that some people learn slower than others and can get lost in the school system but with a little targeted help and extra time with someone who has time to give students can flourish and achieve great grades. I am excited to teach and have been in the exam hall recently, qualities that cannot be underestimated- I have the most recent possible experience and can therefore give relevant modern advice. I endeavour to provide the best possible service to my tutees, aiming to exceed expectations. I have less experience tutoring than older tutors but as I am on my learning curve I will have the most enthusiasm and as I learn, my students will learn with me. I am happy to tutor A-levels or GCSEs in Maths, Chemistry, Biology. I have lots of experience in medicine interviews and am happy to tutor for them as well and can aid with any tips for getting through the medicine system to get into university (personal statements, work experience advice, UCAT etc). I plan on making lessons unique and engaging for an affordable rate and explaining concepts as deep as students would like me to go. Lesson duration is primarily up to you, different people have different concentration spans. I would be able to accommodate for anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes.

If you are a long way away then my travel costs will change in line with my fuel costs and the time it takes me to get there. I will be reasonable and try not to profit from travel time :) If you enjoy my teaching style you can purchase resource packs of my concise and useful notes, price can be agreed dependent on what you want to purchase. Same with textbooks that I have spare from my time in school
