About Sarahlynn
I am a Canadian who has lived in the UK for almost 7 years! I have taught in 3 countries: Canada, Ecuador, and the UK. When I was in Highschool, I was failing Maths! I had a teacher spend 3 evenings a week tutoring me. Because of this, I can empathise with students who struggle. It can feel isolating, overwhelming, and sometimes bring about shame. Through my experience of being tutored, then spending 5 years in Teacher's College (that's how long it is in Canada,) and of course, supporting my own students to reach and surpass their expected targets, I believe I've gained priceless experience in connecting with each child in a way that allows them to unlock the Maths strands. This is particularly important when preparing students for big exams. My passion is making learning applicable to life. As such, I tend to bring real-world problems into our lessons. These are always super fun and rewarding for the child.

Great results in 11+ exam, ISEB common entrance exams, year 6 SATs preparatory and transitioning from Year 8 to Year 9!** As an experienced and qualified classroom teacher, I have a strong background in teaching Maths and English at various levels. My passion lies in supporting students who are preparing for big exams. I am confident with the National Curriculum and prepping students for the 11+, entrance exams, SATs and GCSE Maths. I hold an Honours degree in English, a Bachelor's degree in Education and have a degree in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness. I am also highly motivated by children’s mental health and physical well-being. I own the only tutoring company that blends emotional wellbeing with academic tutoring. As such, I include training in how to study and prepare for tests, as well as a range of techniques for organisation and stress management. I am also highly experienced in tutoring online as I've been tutoring online for over 5 years. I deliver an effective and engaging session that would be comparable to a session face to face. With online sessions I have the ability to draw on the screen using an interactive whiteboard, I am able to share papers and documents that can be annotated in real-time, and of course, still see and communicate with the child. My utmost intention is to help children grow in confidence, gain a clear understanding of the theory we cover, and build their resilience to work through challenging work.
