About Isabelle

I tutor because I understand firsthand how challenging these exams can feel and how easy it is to struggle with difficult content! However, I’ve also experienced how rewarding it is when a tricky concept finally clicks, and I genuinely enjoy helping others reach that moment. Building strong, supportive relationships with my tutees matters to me, so they feel comfortable asking questions and being honest about what they don’t understand.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured, interactive, and built around understanding rather than memorising. I focus on breaking down complex biological and chemical concepts into simple, logical steps so students actually grasp why things work, which is what ultimately drives strong exam performance.

A typical session includes:
* a short teaching segment to introduce or clarify key ideas
* guided discussion to check understanding and tackle misconceptions
* exam-style questions to practise applying knowledge under real exam conditions

This keeps lessons engaging and practical, and helps students build both confidence and technique. I tailor each class to the student’s goals - whether that’s catching up on fundamentals, consolidating tricky topics, or pushing for top grades.

Standard lessons are 1 hour, which I’ve found works best for focus. However, I’m flexible and can adjust session length depending on a student’s needs.

I have over 2 years of tutoring experience, working primarily with GCSE and A-Level students.

Academically, I bring both strong subject knowledge and recent first-hand exam experience:
* IB Diploma: Higher-level Biology, Chemistry, Economics, standard-level subjects: Maths (Analysis and Approaches), English Literature, French
* GCSEs: Maths, English Language, English Literature, Triple Science, French, German, Computer Science, History and Art
* Currently studying Neuroscience at University of St Andrews, on track for a first-class degree
* Recently completed a semester abroad at University of Melbourne

This means I understand both the content and the exam systems from a student’s perspective and know what it takes to achieve top grades.

I work with school-age students at all levels, and am especially familiar with:
* GCSE
* A-Level
* IB

Whether a student needs extra support, steady improvement, or help aiming for the highest grades, I adapt my teaching style and pace to suit them.
