Hi, I’m Sean — a chess coach with over 2 years’ experience teaching kids and adults, from complete beginners through to confident intermediates. [Current rating is Rapid: 1850]

Plenty of people play chess well. Far fewer know how to teach it. I focus on making concepts clear and lessons structured, so improvement feels deliberate rather than accidental — with personalised exercises and progress tracking built into every course.

Lessons follow my 12-Week Chess Foundations Plan — a structured pathway that takes beginners to confident early intermediates, with exercises, game reviews, and tracked progress at every stage.

Using my background in Business Analytics, I track key stats from your games as we go, so progress isn’t just something you feel — it’s something we can see. Deeper written analysis and personalised game reports are available as an add-on for students who want that extra layer of detail.

Perfect! Sean is sn excellent tutor. He has a wonderful manner with his student. He is teaching through games which is the way in which his student seems to learn best. He evaluates each session and changes his format based on what his student needs and the concentration span. Most importantly the student enjoys his company and looks forward to their sessions
