About Jemima
I offer English literature and language tutoring from primary school to A-level, with the aim of encouraging enjoyment, confidence, and skill in the subject.
I achieved 10 A*s at GCSE, A* A A at A-level, and a First in English and Education at Durham University. Since graduating, I have published research into female autism in Teaching English, published by the National Association for the Teaching of English. In September, I am starting a Masters in International Child Rights and Development at Kings College London.
I am passionate about supporting individual learning and providing lessons that suit each individual's needs. I have experience of different teaching styles and learning difficulties through working 1:1 with children in a range of primary schools, as well as in a secondary school special needs unit. I can help to improve use and understanding of; grammar, punctuation, sentence and essay structure, reading, text analysis and comprehension, and creative writing. I would describe myself as enthusiastic, supportive and friendly, and keen to help you to improve your confidence and ability in English.

My mission is to improve academic confidence and performance by targeting problem areas identified by the student and myself. In lessons we will develop subject specific skills to boost the quality of the student's work and their confidence in the subject. Each lesson will provide students with the opportunity to address individual difficulties with the subject, so they can feel confident tackling tasks at school and in exams.
I offer hour long lessons to students ranging from primary school to A level. I have previously worked as a teaching assistant in several primary schools, as well as a special needs unit in a secondary school. I have considerable experience in tailoring the subject content to meet individual needs, and identifying key problem areas for the student in a gentle and supportive manner.
