About Terence

Born in England I started my working life in Unilever’s Research Laboratory involved in synthesis of novel organic compounds. I moved to NZ and into the world of business and sales specifically import and export both of commodities , textiles, fashion, marine , automotive. I lived in Beijing for more than 6 years from 2008 till 2014. That I have studied other languages myself makes me very sympathetic to learners of English.
I can supply list of qualifications, certificates, testimonials, places worked upon request.
My greatest strength is my adaptability to formulate a study plan for each individual student according to their needs.
Since COVID I have stopped teaching face to face and conduct all my classes online.

About the lesson

I approach each student’s class according to their needs, deficiencies and aspirations. I particularly address fluency and communication strategy. Building student confidence to express themselves is crucial for me. Whether English for academic, business, or day to day living we need effective communication and strategy is important in this regard. Some things must need be learnt by rote but I mostly teach through learning by discovery. Using these methodologies plus role plays and making class interesting and fun I aim to turn a passive learner into an active learner.
