About Ajaya
Hi, my name is Ajaya and I am 32. I was a teacher and private tutor for 7 years. I taught in a UK state system for 3 years before moving abroad and teaching in a British International School where I became, Head of Year and Head of Houses.
It may sound like a cliche but I truly enjoy teaching and strive to make it as enjoyable for my students as possible. Boring lessons are boring for everyone and even if they're full of content learning is limited. By contrast, an engaging lesson in which you feel valued, respected and competent are the key to enjoyment (for teacher and student!) and learning.

As far as I am concerned, they key to learning is to enjoy doing it, as such I use a range of different techniques to ensure that my students are enjoying themselves and prgressing throughout a session. I have an informal approach to teaching and encourage a conversational style which allows me to embed knowledge checks throughout discussions. I use a variety of teaching strategies, from gamefication of difficul topics, to the good old fashioned repetition required to learn lists. There is no single approach to learning which will suit everybody and so teaching and learning is always adapted to the specific needs of the student.
I typically run 60-90 minute sessions depending on the level and the student's reason for wanting tuition. Sessions will always begin with a recap of prior learning (usually a recap of independent study) to help minimise skill/memory fade.
I deliver KS3 and GCSE Sciences and Maths.
