About Brighty
I had a 13-year career in luxury transportation and corporate shipping. I lost my job the first month of the COVID-19 government shutdown and decided to take less demanding work and help my then 2-year-old daughter get into early childhood intervention. She is profoundly hard of hearing and has recently been diagnosed with ADHD and Anxiety. I took part-time office jobs until I started teaching phonics at her school. I absolutely loved working with the kids and my laid-back approach to learning really helped the kids level up on their reading. My husband and I moved our girl from California to Upstate NY last summer so she can attend the number 1 rated School for the Deaf and live in a beautiful Deaf community. Since moving I have refocused my time on getting her the support she needs and being active with her new school. I was able to get her from reading at Kindergarten level (in first grade) to reading at 3rd grade level by the end of first grade. I thoroughly enjoy reading and believe that children who can read for themselves have endless opportunities.

My Lessons are 30 minutes twice a week. Each lesson covers sounds, site words & decodable reading passages with follow up questions to ensure student is comprehending the reading. The first session I run the Basic Phonics Skill Test and introduce myself to the student. This helps me organize sessions based on the student's needs.
