About Arun

I have more than 20 years of teaching experience (including 4 years (2017-2021) at Jubail University College, Royal Commission for Jubail, Jubail, Saudi Arabia). During this period, I have experience of teaching to graduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering/Applied Science discipline.
I had started my teaching career as a lecturer in the Department of Physics, Banasthali University, Rajasthan, India in July, 2003 and worked for three years. There I enjoyed teaching, both in the classroom and in personal interactions with students, and see it as an important component of my career. During this tenure, I taught many courses from basic to advanced levels for undergraduates as well as postgraduates. Some of them are Optics, Quantum Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism at undergraduate level and Fiber Optics and Communication, and Microwave Electronics at postgraduate level. Also, I was involved in designing the courses, curriculum and development labs for Master of Science in Physics with specialization in Electronics.
To explore the possibility of applied research, I joined Amity Institute of Telecom Technology/Engineering and Management, Amity University, Noida, UP, India in June 2006 where worked till December 2017 at various levels starting from Lecturer to Associate Professor. In this institute, I was a part of the group who designed the course, curriculum and lab of Master of Technology in Optoelectronics & Optical Communication and Master of Technology in Telecom System Engineering. During this tenure, I taught Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, Electromagnetic Theory, and Optical Communication to the Bachelor of Technology students; and Optics & Lasers, Optical Electronics, Integrated Optics and Fiber Optics to the Master of Technology students. Along with teaching, I was motivating and involving undergraduate and postgraduate students for their research projects.
To get international exposure in teaching learning, I had shifted to Jubail University College, Jubail, Saudi Arabia in December 2017 where I work as Assistant Professor for 4 years (Dec. 2017 – Nov. 2021) in the Department of General Studies (Physics Group). As per the requirement of the department and my expertise, I taught General Physics-I, General Physics-II, and Mathematics for Management to the Bachelor level students.
I would love to continue teaching of various courses under Physics, Optics and Photonics at different levels. I enjoy teaching during my teaching career and teach the course through learning by doing. The time, I am in the classes with my student is very valuable to me. I love to interact with students and the interactions with them always make me energetic and satisfied. Moreover, I find great pleasure in motivating their efforts in higher learning, and their questions also helped me to expand my scope of teaching and learning. For almost all courses, I view well-designed homework assignments as a primary educational resource, guiding students through concepts and techniques. I believe that often more understanding and learning happens while working through a problem than listening to even the most inspirational lecture. Therefore, each problem should have a clear educational goal, and after completing a set of problem, a student should feel that the understanding gained from it was worth with the effort that went into it.
For me teaching is the best way to thorough study, rehash, and absorb ideas. It is also a wonderful way to gain more comprehensive knowledge in further fields and techniques. Beyond the primary purpose of educating students, I also see direct benefits from teaching to my research and myself.

About the lesson

I would like to state that I am a professional with interdisciplinary approach and nature. My area of research and teaching covers a wide range of Physics Courses like Engineering/Applied Physics, Optics, Electromagnetic Theory, Optical Communication, Photonic Crystals, Antenna Theory, Lasers, etc. I have more than 19 years of teaching experience to teach senior secondary, undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate courses in Engineering/Technology/Applied Science discipline.

My educational qualifications includes the following
• Ph.D. in Physics
• M.Tech. in Laser Science & Applications
• M.Sc. in Physics

In addition to above qualifications, I had qualified all competitive examination of all India level like UGC-CSIR-NET, GATE, etc. in Physics.

I am a member of following professional bodies:
• Senior Member, IEEE.
• Fellow, IETE, India.
• Life member, Indian Laser Association (ILA).

I have published more than 50 research papers in Journals/Conferences of International repute. Also, I am a reviewer of some International Journals of repute like IEEE, Elsevier, etc.
