About Andrew

I am a 2nd year computing student at Queens University, but I did take 1st-year calculus-based Physics. I am very comfortable with Physics up to 1st Year University, including Simple Harmonic Motion, Waves, Fluid Mechanics, Electric Charges, Electric Potential, Electric Circuits, Magnetism, as well as the basics of Physics such as Kinematics, Dynamics, Work, Energy, and (both linear and angular) Momentum. I have been tutoring high school students for the past 2 years, including experience tutoring remotely. Many of my past students have told me that I explain things very well and that I make concepts easy to understand. I love teaching, and my goal is to make Physics as easy to understand as possible.

For each topic, I like to review the important parts, or completely re-teach it if necessary, with lots of examples. Then, we will work through some practice questions together. I like to ask you questions to guide you through the problem, rather than just giving you the answer. These questions will often be the same questions you should be asking yourself (sometimes similar to a flow chart) when working on related questions. This will help you develop the thought process for solving similar problems.

I can also help you with difficult homework or assignment questions. Again, I will help guide you to the solution and give you hints, without giving you the answer. Depending on the problem, I might also give you a similar question that we can work through together, which will allow you to do the original question on your own to make sure you now know how to solve that type of question.

If you tell me what topic or material you want to work on before each lesson, I will prepare for the lesson to help it go more smoothly. If you need help with a big assignment or a challenging problem, you can send it to me and I will look at it in detail before the lesson.

I believe practice is important, especially in Physics. Practice questions help you identify areas you're still not understanding properly. They also make you more comfortable and increase your speed and efficiency in completing related problems (which is especially important for tests with time limits). Furthermore, I believe that when doing practice questions, you should be able to immediately check your answer after each question, which prevents you from making the same mistake multiple times in a row. As long as you're not relying on the correct answer to answer the question in any way, you should be able to consistently get the right answer without checking the answers.

If your teacher doesn't already give you practice questions (or homework), I can assign some myself if you tell me what topic you're doing before the lesson, so I can prepare some questions. Alternatively, I can send you some questions after the lesson (if you don't tell me before the lesson). If your teacher does give you practice questions, I can also help you work through some difficult questions or help you get started if you're not understanding the topic.
