About Kimberly

I am an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with 5 years of professional classroom experience and over 7 years of tutoring expertise. I specialize in high school English (Grades 9–12), ESL, and Social Sciences. Because I actively and currently teach the current Ontario curriculum, I know exactly what classroom teachers look for when grading assessments, essays, and exams.

Teaching is my true passion, driven by the belief that true learning happens when students are genuinely engaged and actively building self-confidence. Over my career, I have worked with a diverse multitude of learners, allowing me to adapt to any student's unique learning style.

There is nothing more rewarding to me than guiding a student through a difficult concept and witnessing that breakthrough "a-ha" moment when everything finally clicks.

About the lesson

I believe that effective learning depends entirely on individual needs. By prioritizing a one-on-one approach, I ensure every session is tailored to a student's personal goals, strengths, and areas for growth.

How I Help Students Succeed (Grades 9–12):
• Structured Writing: Mastery of paragraph models (PPEC and APEC) and comprehensive essay structures (personal, literary, comparative, and persuasive).
• Academic Formatting & Polish: Complete guidance on MLA formatting, proper citation styles, proofreading, and editing.
• Critical Literacy Skills: Advanced annotating techniques, inference building, text analysis, and review of literary elements and devices.

Every student's journey begins with a targeted diagnostic assessment to pinpoint their current strengths and needs. From there, I build a customized learning plan designed to meet their academic goals and boost their confidence in the English subject.

Mrs. Tamargo has tutored both my daughters several times. They both love her. She is an experienced teacher and understood how to adapt to both their personalities. Would highly recommend!
