About Caroline
I’m an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Ottawa and Bachelor of Education from Queen's University. I started tutoring when I was in Grade 9 and discovered I had a knack for making difficult concepts easy to understand. I fell in love with helping people learn and have worked in a variety of educational and education adjacent roles for the last decade. I love watching the lightbulb go off as a concept clicks and seeing students build confidence in a subject they are struggling with.
I can help with K-10 math and science and 11-12 chemistry. I may also be able to provide support with college level sciences, depending on the course.

I help students keep up to speed on their current work, while identifying and addressing gaps in historical learning that might be causing them to struggle with new concepts. For example, if a student is struggling with fraction simplification (2/4 simplifies to 1/2) but the root cause is not knowing their multiplication facts, in addition to helping the student understand fraction simplification, I would encourage the student to work on learning their times tables at home and provide support with that as well. I strive to help students build confidence in the subjects they are struggling with, and become more independent learners.
I have a special education certification, and have a particular interest in supporting students with diverse learning needs who might be struggling with traditional classroom instruction. In my home, I offer active seating options as well as regular chairs, and I use various tools such as manipulatives and a whiteboard table to make learning more hands-on and engaging. I am also happy to explore and integrate any other learning tools you have found helpful or that you think may be helpful.
