About Yemisi

Hello! My name is Yemisi and I will be offering tutoring services in the 11+ and GCSE English.

I completed my 11+ in 2016 with a score of 364 and my GCSE English in 2022 with a grade of A*. I feel that my experience doing both the exams to high attainment well equips me to help my own students excel and achieve the grades they are capable of :)

I attended a grammar secondary school and 6th form for a total of 7 years. As someone who is incredibly privileged in the standard of education and support she's been received throughout her academic journey, it would be a dream of mine to support others through their own academic journies.

Becoming my student would be a collaborative effort to help you reach your academic goals, where I listen to you as much as you listen to me.

About the lesson

My 11+ lessons are 2 hours, with 1 hour respectively dedicated to Maths and English. My lessons consist of comprehensive activities which build interdisciplinary skills within my students. I not only aim to make sure students understand the concepts introduced but can apply it to all questions they may encounter in the exam. Given the age of 11+ students, I am to make my lessons fun and enjoyable, whilst also effective and memorable, so the information sticks with them. For Maths, lessons mainly include theory and loads of practice questions and for English, lessons may include writing tasks, reading tasks, spelling tasks and vocabulary checks

My GCSE English lessons are 1 hour and for those aged 14-16 (i.e. anyone Year 9-11 who has begun studying their English specification). As someone who has studied both GCSE and A-Level English, and achieved A*s in all, I have thorough understanding of the texts of study and the mark scheme. Using this knowledge, I can maximise my students ability to use the mark scheme to increase their marks, and thus their grade. A variety of activities occur in my lessons, but some examples include theme studies, character studies, study of context, teaching of terminology, practicing of grammar and phraseology, essay writing and going through my personalised feedback.
