Biology tutor for 5 years
I take a student led approach and am happy to focus on areas the student has difficulties with, or is particularly interested in. I work at the speed of the student, offering guidance and support as well as practical advice to convert understanding into practical use e.g. exam grades. I will ensure the student understands the topic fully before moving on to another area, either by practice questions, or by "reverse teaching" where the student explains the topic back to me to ensure the student is confident in their ability. I often draw on examples and extra curriculars to make topics more interesting and understandable, as well as helping students stand out during exams and interviews.
I largely follow the form of an Oxford Tutorial. I have experience teaching all A Level syllabuses, as well as the IB curriculum. I have previously worked with students with a D, transforming their grades and confidence to As and A*s in a matter of weeks.
I have had huge successes with my students that come to me for personal statement and university prep, resulting in a 100% Oxbridge success rate.
