About Eleni
I struggled quite a lot at school with several subjects and often felt put down by my teachers. I found that when I didn't enjoy a subject or the way in which it was taught I would struggle more with that subject. I am now at Oxford University reading for a BA in Classics and don't think I would where I am now had I not had two inspiring mentors at school who helped me both enjoy and grasp Ancient Greek and Latin. I was very close with my classics teachers and they never ceased to make our lessons fun and interesting, which I believe helped me excel both in my A levels and in getting into Oxford. I feel that many teachers today do not engage with their students or understand the necessity for lessons to be interesting so that their students can both learn more succesfully and want to learn. At University, my passion for my subject has grown enormously thanks to the one on one tutorials I recieve, allowing for my learning to be more tailored for me. For this reason, I would love to become a mentor: to be able to hopefully inspire some excitement in the student for a subject and to help them learn in an enjoyable way. I believe that once a student enjoys their subject success in this subject is more likely.
