About Shelly

With 29 years of nursing experience and a BSN from Gardner-Webb, I bring a wealth of real-world knowledge to tutoring. I teach in the LPN program at a community college in NC focusing on student success, clinical competence, and NCLEX readiness. Known for my patient, engaging approach, I tailor each session to meet individual needs, ensuring you feel confident in your skills and understanding. About the lesson

As an experienced RN with a BSN from Gardner-Webb and nearly three decades of nursing expertise, I bring real-world knowledge and practical application into each tutoring session. My approach centers on breaking down complex nursing concepts into digestible parts, making learning interactive and engaging. I adapt my teaching methods to each student’s learning style, using tools like visual aids, case studies, and practice questions to reinforce understanding and critical thinking.

A typical lesson plan includes:

Review of Key Concepts – We begin with a recap of the student’s current coursework or topics they’re struggling with.
Interactive Learning – We’ll work through scenarios and NCLEX-style questions to build confidence and problem-solving skills.
Hands-On Applications – For practical skills, I guide students through real-life examples, using my experience as a long-time LPN instructor.
Goal Setting & Progress Review – Each session ends with a discussion of progress and setting achievable study goals for next time.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to blend academic knowledge with practical, clinical insight from my years in nursing and teaching in the LPN program.
