About Tze Meng

Music has always been a huge part of my life, and I am passionate about sharing the joy of classical music with others. I believe music has the unique ability to bring people together while fostering confidence, discipline, creativity, and resilience.

Beyond performing, I enjoy mentoring young musicians and helping them realize their potential. Having taught in youth orchestras, I understand that every student learns differently. I believe every student deserves patient guidance, clear goals, and lessons that inspire lasting motivation rather than short-term results. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students not only improve their technical and musical abilities but also develop confidence and a genuine love for music.

Whether your goal is to excel in examinations, prepare for auditions, or simply become a more accomplished musician, I am committed to helping you achieve your fullest potential.

About the lesson

Every student learns differently, and I believe effective teaching begins with understanding how each individual absorbs information. I tailor every lesson to the student's learning style, goals, and current ability, ensuring steady progress while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable.

A typical lesson begins with a warm-up, followed by scales and technical exercises to build a solid foundation. We then work on études and repertoire, focusing on the aspects that make music truly come alive—tone production, intonation, rhythm, phrasing, musical expression, and efficient practice habits. My aim is not just to help students play the right notes, but to become confident and expressive musicians.

Lessons are conducted in person. Students up to Grade 5 typically benefit from 30-minute lessons, while Grade 5 and above are recommended 60-minute lessons to allow for more in-depth technical and musical development.

I hold LTCL Performance Diplomas with Distinction in both Violin and Cello and have taught group violin classes in youth orchestras. Having served as concertmaster and principal in numerous orchestras, I draw on extensive performance experience to prepare students for examinations, school auditions, DSA applications, and youth orchestra auditions. My goal is to provide patient, encouraging, and structured guidance that helps every student reach their full musical potential while maintaining a genuine enjoyment of learning.
