About Maïa

Fascinated by languages from a very young age, and more particularly by English. I have always liked to share my knowledge and my passion.
What surely differentiates me from most teachers? I hated school! Because I was bored, I did not find myself in the functioning of the school. And this is precisely what made me want to give private lessons, to be able to offer something other than the methods usually used in the classroom.
Being a private teacher means above all offering a tailor-made service and being able to adapt completely to your student, organizing personalized follow-up. It's being able to take the time to do well, to share your passion, and that's what I like so much about this job.

About the lesson

My classes are aimed at a wide range of students, from primary to high school, see beyond, whether they have great difficulty in a subject that requires an upgrade, or are simply looking to improve. or to deepen certain notions.
My goal is to offer a tailor-made pedagogy, making sure to adapt as much as possible to my student. Thus, the course of the course will entirely depend on the latter, and the objectives that we will have established together.
This is why I organize a preliminary interview with the student, before starting the lessons, to get to know each other, target their expectations, understand what can be a problem in the subject to be taught, what they expect from these private lessons and see where their level is in the subject in question, whether the main concepts have been acquired or not, etc.
The interview with the student can be followed by an interview with the parents, if they wish, to have their feelings and discuss together the right method to adopt for these lessons.
Then, for each course, I make sure to work on both the strengths and weaknesses of the student, in order to implement his potential to help him where he/she has the most difficulty. As far as possible, I favor a playful approach, different from that which the student can find at school. It is also important to me that the student feels sufficiently comfortable and involved to ask all possible questions, ask me for other explanations if he/she does not understand or wishes to deepen a notion. A private lesson is a privileged moment of exchange where one can take the time necessary for understanding, and it must be conducive to communication.
Another important aspect for me is to be able to follow a student over the long term by adapting my lessons to his evolution and that of his objectives.
